Lackman Lofts is endowed with a rich history, built by turn of the century
brewer, Herman Lackman, as both an investment and home to the first floor
saloon that served up only Lackman brand beer. Local lore has it that
Lackman beer was known for its purity, made from the finest barley, hops and
well water with no substitutes. It was no coincidence that Lackman was built
on the corner of 13th and Vine, legend has it that saloons were preferably
located on corner lots to ensure that while drinks were illegally enjoyed on
Sundays the law could be seen approaching. Lackman Brewery was absorbed by Hudepohl Brewing Company in the 1930s.
Lackman Lofts are well lit by the enormous floor to ceiling bay windows and
cantilevered decks that overlook historic Over-the-Rhine, Liberty Hill,
Washington Park and the beautiful rose window of Music Hall. True to Urban
Sites style, these lofts have exposed brick and ductwork, hardwood floors,
granite counter tops, travertine tile, custom shelving and vent free gas
fireplaces framed by original mantelpieces. They also include beautiful Rookwood tile back splashes in the kitchen and on many of the fireplaces.
Lackman is a perfect combination of modern convenience and historical beauty and charm. With dedicated offstreet parking and elevator access this building makes city living easy. The beauty of the building is enhanced by details such as the original Lackman Brewery logo inscribed in tile on the lobby floor and the ornate stone and brick work on the exterior of the building.
